Willa Stivers
I come from a family deeply invested in storytelling and history. After years of being immersed in these stories, I decided it was time for me to start documenting them.
As I began collecting records of my family history, I also discovered a passion for art making.
My art, whether it be photography, painting, or screenwriting, is all heavily inspired by my family. I use these mediums to preserve the stories of my family and those around me.
These values led me to major in Radio, Television, and Film and History at Northwestern University, where I have conducted research grants and worked on many sets, including as the writer and director of the short film One Piece at a Time, which was selected for the New Student Grant, and as 2026 the co-director of Applause for a Cause, an entirely student-produced short film.
